OSHKOSH - TAPERWING WACO ATO PERSONAL BANK CHECKS The Taperwing WACO ATO is perhaps the most famous WACO in the world. WACO is an acronym for Weaver Aircraft Company located in Lorraine, OH. The original Taperwing ATO was built in 1929. 5 years later, it was bought by Joseph C. Mackey, a famous stunt pilot of that time. Mackey made a few upgrades, including a new engine, and used it for years in his shows. In 1936, Mackey flew the newly modified ATO in the International Air Games in Paris. He brought home the grand prize and $10,000 of winnings. His ATO is now housed at the Weaver Aircraft Company hanger in Ohio. Like a lot of the airplane checks, the Oshkosh - Taperwing WACO ATO is depicted against a bright blue sky background. The bright red paint is reflective of the only WACO to ever be metalized. This plane is an American Icon and will be remembered each time you write a check.
