The San Jose Sharks have had a long journey getting to their final destination in San Jose. The team was originally founded during the 67-68 NHL expansion (adding 6 new teams to the NHL). Originally located in Oakland as the Seals. After 9 years of losing games, attendance and money, the team was sold to two businessmen in Cleveland. Thus the team moved locations from Oakland to Cleveland and changed names from the Seals to the Barons. The team only lasted two years in Cleveland because of similar success (or lack of) and similar money losses. The Team then permitted, by the NHL, to merge with the Minnesota North Stars (now the Dallas Stars). In 1990, the owners released the rest of their share of the North Stars and were then permitted to bring a team back to the Bay Area. The San Jose Sharks were finally born.
